Orthoplasty is the discipline that directly treats the functional correction of osteo-articular segments affecting the toes by means of silicone orthoses. Its function is to modify joint relationships for the improvement of organ function.

More simply, it seeks to restore the functional position of the toes, which have undergone significant changes over time. Orthoplasty is based mainly on the imagination of the operator, combined with an excellent knowledge of the biomechanics of the foot. In fact, knowing the articular movements of the foot, allows to reach a resolution of the problems in a more effective way.

Orthoplasty is used when the toes have an articular stiffening, or when they are too contracted (e.g. jaws), or when the proximity of a toe to the other creates a hyperkeratotic thickening.
